Which fish should I choose?
Not sure what to pick at the counter? Here is how our most popular fish taste, and how we suggest cooking them.
Hammour
The Gulf favourite: firm white flesh with a clean, sweet taste. It holds together well, so it is excellent grilled, and also good fried or baked. AED 139 per kg.
Seabream
Tender, mild and delicate. A safe choice for the whole family, lovely fried golden or grilled whole. AED 125 per kg.
Sultan Ibrahim
Small, sweet and flaky. Best fried or grilled whole; a classic with hot bread and tahini. AED 104 per kg.
Zubaidi, Hamra and Sea Bass
Zubaidi (silver pomfret) is delicate and much loved fried. Hamra (red snapper) and sea bass have mild white flesh that suits grilling or baking. Ask us which is freshest today.
Kingfish (Kanad) and Salmon
For a richer, meatier fish, choose kingfish (kanad) or salmon. Both are great grilled; salmon is also excellent baked. Salmon AED 168 per kg.
Prawns, lobster and calamari
Jumbo prawns (AED 220 per kg) are big and juicy, grilled with our red spice. Lobster (AED 231 per kg) is for a special occasion. Calamari (AED 125 per kg) comes in tender rings with a light golden crunch.
